So you knew this had to be coming, didnt you? With me being a Web Designer I had to review the latest browser. So what do I think about it? How fast is it? What do I rate it? Its all after the break.

The Look

I love the look, its very simple and easy to find everything, from the first time I used it I have had no trouble finding everything I need in a matter of seconds. One thing I am not sure about yet is having the tabs on top, Im not exactly sure how I feel about them yet, but that is coming from somebody that has been loyal to Firefox for 3 years now, im sure once they get it polished up a bit, it could become pretty good.

Speed

I have had no problems with the speed of Chrome at all, it is 2x faster than IE and about the same as Firefox. It has loaded all my normal sites at about the same time as FF. However I have had some problems with Chrome finding my DNS server, but this could just be a bug with the beta and I’m sure google will have it fixed when the “real” release comes.

Overall

Overall Chrome has the possibility to become a major contender in the browser market, however if they are going to be able to compete they are going to have to forget about the Google branding and give users choices of what they want to use. Another thing they are going to have to do is earn the trust of its users, I have seen many people wandering if Google is “Big Brothering” them by collecting everything they are doing on the internet. Overall if they can get past some of there early mistakes they have a real chance of overcoming the much used but horribly bad IE.
